Terms & Conditions

Last updated 16 September 2026 · These terms apply to every quote, booking and delivery unless a written contract says otherwise.

1. About these terms

These terms are between you (“the customer”) and ROBERT TRANSPORT LIMITED, company number 13533975, registered office 12 Cannon Street, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN1 3DD(“Robert Transport”, “we”, “us”). By accepting a quote or booking a collection you agree to them. Carriage is undertaken subject to our standard conditions of carriage, a copy of which is available on request and which apply in addition to these terms.

2. Quotes & bookings

  • Quotes are based on the information you give us: postcodes, dimensions, weight, commodity, access and timing. If any of these differ on the day, the price may be revised before or on collection.
  • Quotes are valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise and are inclusive of fuel. VAT is charged at the prevailing rate where applicable.
  • A booking is confirmed when we send written confirmation (email or message) of the price and collection window.
  • Same-day and time-critical bookings are accepted subject to vehicle availability at the time of confirmation.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Goods must be packed, palletised or crated suitably for road transport and clearly labelled. Fragile or high-value goods must be declared in advance.
  • You must ensure safe access and, where you have agreed to load or unload, suitable equipment and people are available at the agreed time.
  • You warrant that you own the goods or are authorised to arrange their carriage, and that they are not excluded goods (section 5).
  • For European movements you are responsible for appointing a customs agent and providing accurate export/import documentation.

4. Carriage & delivery

  • We will collect and deliver within the agreed windows. Delivery times are estimates; we are not liable for delay caused by traffic, weather, site access, customs, or events outside our control.
  • Goods are delivered to the address given and signed for by the person receiving them. Where a site allows, photographs are taken as part of the proof of delivery.
  • If delivery cannot be made because nobody is available or access is refused, we will contact you to agree a re-delivery, which may be charged.
  • We may sub-contract part of a movement to a vetted partner carrier. We remain your point of contact throughout.

5. Goods we do not carry

ADR-classified hazardous goods, livestock, unpackaged waste, cash, bullion, and any goods whose carriage would be unlawful. Please ask if you are unsure — most unusual loads can be accommodated with notice.

6. Liability & insurance

  • We carry goods-in-transit insurance. Our liability for loss of or damage to goods is limited in accordance with our conditions of carriage unless a higher value has been declared in writing and accepted by us before collection.
  • Claims for loss or damage must be notified to us in writing within 3 days of delivery (or the expected delivery date for non-delivery) and detailed within 7 days.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, production or contracts.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

7. Payment

  • New and one-off customers pay on booking or on delivery by bank transfer or card.
  • Account customers pay within 30 days of invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Overdue invoices may attract interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

8. Cancellation & waiting time

  • Bookings cancelled more than 24 hours before the collection window are free of charge.
  • Cancellations within 24 hours, or after a vehicle has been dispatched, may be charged up to the full quoted price to cover committed costs.
  • The first 30 minutes of loading or unloading at each end is included. Waiting time beyond this is charged at the rate stated on your quote.

9. Website use

Content on roberttransport.co.uk is provided for information about our services. The medallion, wordmark and photography are the property of ROBERT TRANSPORT LIMITED and may not be reproduced without permission. Forms submitted through the site are processed as described in our privacy policy. We do not guarantee the site will be available without interruption.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continue in force.
